MEGAN HEISE
Teacher, Writer, Consultant, and Coach
I am an experienced educator, writer, and consultant striving to make the world a better place through language, whether it’s helping students share their ideas in written and multimodal projects, working with non-profits on marketing & communications, or composing my own creative works. I hold a PhD in Composition and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MFA in Creative Writing from Naropa University.

I am a passionate writer and teacher, employing critical and transnational feminist pedagogies to teach composition and creative writing with a focus on amplifying marginalized voices and inspiring social change through impactful written and multimodal communication.
I am a writer, artist, and performer living in Pittsburgh, PA. I enjoy working with hybridity, found texts, and erasure. I am the author of the chapbook Quasar #6, and my other creative works have been published in print and online. I am also an avid book binder and zine-maker.
I work with non-profits, NGOs, and other socially conscious ventures to reach and inspire their target audiences through web and print content writing and editing. I do extensive research for each client I work with to make sure that the content I write and revise accurately reflects their values and their position in their respective fields. I work as a true collaborator, dedicated to my clients whose missions and visions work towards a more just, equitable, and peaceful world.
I work with clients collaboratively to help them achieve their goals and strengthen their writing, whether it’s for work, school, a personal blog, job or grad school applications, or anything else. I take a holistic approach to writing, and offer creative solutions for common challenges including grammar errors, writer’s block, and brainstorming & draft planning. Whatever your writing challenge, I’m here to help you through it without judgment or pressure.
